Media Arts History 1 - Prehistoric Art

Before we actually dive with Media Arts, we must go back for a little history. In today's post, we will discuss about how art evolved from prehistoric times.

Art can be dated back all the way to prehistoric times, when people drew on cave walls. The oldest art is from the Paleolithic era (the Old Stone Age - 2.6 million years ago), then from the Mesolithic period (10,000 years ago), but it was not until the Neolithic era (12,000 years ago) that art began to develop.

Neolithic Era Art - Sculptures

During the prehistoric times, art was restricted to cave paintings, rock carvings and engravings. Art continued to gradually develop through the Mesolithic period, but it was from the Neolithic Era that people begun to make sculptures, begun pottery making, and made structures out of rocks. This era marks the beginning of art.

Stay Alert for the next post on History, where we will discuss the forms of art in early history! =D
